What is Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)?

AAC means all of the ways that someone communicates besides talking. Augmentative means to add to someone’s speech. Alternative means to be used instead of speech.  AAC can be high-tech such as an iPad, tablet, or computer with communication or assistive technology software, or light-tech such as communication symbols, objects, boards, or books, or no-tech such as sign language, gestures, body movements, eye gaze ,or facial expressions.
